There is no better gift that comes with thought behind it. That gift may be a wine label made from a personalized wine label template.

There are many wine label templates to choose from and deciding on which to go with for that perfect someone or couple might be more difficult than you would initially think. You can fully customize the design and truly make it your own work of art for your friend, girlfriend, boyfriend, wife or husband, etc.

Selecting the right label will take some effort. You will want to capture the essence of the wine and the person or person’s demeanor in the label. If the one you are getting the label for has a unique sense of humor, a more comical label would be appropriate. If you are getting a customized wine label for a wedding or anniversary, then a more elegant design would suffice.

Whatever your tastes are or the person you are designing the customized wine label has, you will find the wine label template to meet your needs. You may want to add a picture of the happy couple you are designing the label for, or just their name.

One idea would to put the date of their marriage on the label and give it to them on the wedding day. Wine label templates also include different options for birthdays, reunions, business events and holidays, just to name a few.

There are also many pre-design software programs to choose from that allow you to take the proper steps in creating the perfect wine label template. After you design the wine label, you will be able to print it out and apply it to the wine bottle.

You must also be aware of the size of the bottle in relation to the label size. The traditional wine labels are large (magnum), regular (bottle) and small (half) label sizes. There are also weatherproof labels, glossy labels, metallic labels. There are a few ways to get your wine labels. You can either print them out yourself, or have the company you ordered them from send them to you in the mail.

If you choose to print your own wine label template, be sure you have these supples: a printer, scissors, scanner, software that supports, graphics/labels, and a digital camera. If you took a picture of the lucky person, you can take the photo and incorporate it into the wine label template design. Pre-designed templates will save you time from designing your template from scratch. It gives you a basic starting point.

Wine label making is increasingly becoming more popular because it combines the creative aspect (the designing of the label) with practicality (the drinking of the wine). If you are not a creative person or have no idea what you are doing, then find someone who does and have them create the wine label design for you. You may not design the wine label yourself but it’s the thought that counts, and it’s a thought that they’ll very likely appreciate.

Many try to dabble in comedy, and this is no different for designers of funny wine labels. If you have no clue which wine to choose, then picking a wine label that is funny or humorous may be a good choice – or not. The first thing we notice about the wine bottle is the label. Why not make it funny to grab the consumers’ attention?

If the wine label has a funny picture on it, should it be taken seriously? Yes and no. That doesn’t necessarily have a right answer. Not all wines with funny labels will taste bad and not all will taste great. Many manufacturers may go with humorous labels to attract new and younger wine drinkers. Keep in mind a funny wine label will tickle a young person’s fancy and get them to buy a bottle. They possibly will create a series of funny wine labels with the same theme behind the idea.

Let’s pretend you are walking down the aisle in the liquor store, okay? You pass by some traditional or vintage wine labels and you see a wine bottle with a monkey on it. If you’re not a serious wine drinker, might you be more interested in trying the monkey wine opposed to the more vintage wine? The funny monkey on the wine bottle did grab your attention and made you think “I wonder what this tastes like?”. Then you read the rest of the label and more about what the wine consists of.

To more experienced wine drinkers, the label isn’t important. Obviously the taste trumps all no matter what the label looks like. The humor behind the funny wine label serves a purpose and isn’t done just because the wine label designers thought it was funny. Wine label designers want to top each other just like any other form of advertising, e.g. commercials on television and billboard ads. Wine designers might poke fun at society or government, create a catchy name for the wine and write poetic descriptions for their funny wine labels.

Comedy comes in all forms, in all languages, and for all ages. Comedy has become a force in the wine label industry for many years and there is no sign in stopping any time soon. Each wine maker wants to create their own design that will be associated with their wine. Taking pride in the wine label making process is necessary – especially for those relatively new wine makers trying to make a name for themselves. Old wineries may need a make over with their wine label design – what better way to create a renaissance then creating funny wine labels to attract new wine drinkers?

As you can see, there’s a wide range of funny wine labels available on the market today. It all comes down to a matter of personal preference, style, and humor. If you’re looking to create your own, be creative as the sky’s the limit. Let’s hope the wine tastes just as good as the humor sounds!

Vintage wine labels give off that “old time” feeling when you look at them. They take you back in time and gives you a sense of what that period was really all about. Vintage wine labels may tell a very short story on that little piece of paper.

Vintage wine labels have remained the same for decades and perhaps even for centuries. They remain the same because people can identify the wine easily by the type of vintage label associated with the wine.

For example – we associate McDonald’s with the golden arches and we immedietly know what the Olympic rings look like. There could be subtle changes in the design but the basic design would remain the same.

The vintage wine label has nothing to do with the year in which the wine was made. You can build a “vintage” car that looks like it’s from the 1950’s – but it’s not the original and the same goes for vintage wine labels. Newer wines are made every year with vintage labels to give the appearance they’ve aged.

While the vintage wine label may give off the appearance of something from the 19th century, at the same time, the vintage wine label has a timeless quality.

Vintage wine bottle labels make great art as well. If one was so inclined, framing vintage labels and hanging them on the wall would make a great show piece for any home.

Vintage wine labels are so popular among enthusiasts that there’s an abundance of artwork available. If one has a vintage wine bottle like a Bordeaux – from many decades ago possibly – the chances are high they would not want to rip the label off and put it in a scrapbook.

Vintage wine labels’ requirements vary from country to country but some of the basics include: the wine must be clearly labeled by the name of the country of origin (e.g. 95% of the grapes are harvested in that location) , actual alcohol strength, importer or bottler, and allergic ingredients.

What vintage wine labels may not include are recent awards the wine has won, as this is done for more updated wine labels.

We like seeing new and innovative designs that leave us wondering what they might come up with next. On the other hand, vintage wine labels will never go out of style at any time, not ever. People love being nostalgic, looking back and seeing what was in style – that can be said for vintage wine labels as well.

Vintage wines will generally taste better than non-vintage wines. This is typical, but not always the case. You don’t have to be a wine connoisseur to appreciate the artistic design of the vintage wine label either.

Today, there are ways to get your own name on a vintage wine label, which would make a great gift for anyone who loves to drink wine frequently.

One example would be for a couple who is engaged or when they’re married.

You can create your own artwork or use a template the company supplies and give the happy couple a vintage wine label in their name that they can cherish forever.

Labels for wine bottles have varied over the centuries to showcase the origins of the wine in the hopes of attracting new wine enthusiasts. Wine labels must visually impact (possibly with a sense of humor) to create an appeal to the consumers. With so many choices of wines available, those who are “newbies” will solely base their decision on what the label looks like.

Designers may look to create a harmonious continuity with an elegant design that is unrivaled, or they make to look to get a laugh. It really just depends on the maker. Designers use symbols to convey what the wine tastes like.

For example: a fierce animal such as a wolf, shark, tiger may represent a much more bolder wine, while animals like birds, horses and free flowing animals may show the wine is of a subtle variety.

There is no rhyme or reason for some labels for wine bottles – the designers want the most outrageous design to make their brand stand out as well.

Certain wine bottle labels may show a family crest or coat or arms to show “we’ve been in business for a long time, therefore, our wine is great tasting and reliable”.

This is a very old tradition – one of the oldest in the wine label making industry. Pop art – while not new – does appear on labels for wine bottles because many are familiar with pop art designs, thus, they may purchase the bottle because of the interesting pop art concept.

Collecting labels for wine bottles is a hobby all in its own because of the vast selection that exists in the world today. In the past, wine labels were very simple and straightforward. Today, wine labels are works of art in their own right and you can spend many hours searching for a wine label that has eluded a collector.

If you are interested in collecting labels for wine bottles, you should carefully remove them from the bottle and put them in a scrapbook. Saving the entire wine bottle itself can be one option but that can take up much space in your home – especially if you do not have proper storage.

If the wine labels are remarkable and worth saving, framing them as an art piece to hang on your wall will show how sophisticated you really are.

Rookie wine drinkers may choose something that is in the middle of the road if they are completely clueless. What does this mean? Choose a wine with a label that has style and sophistication with a sense of humor – not overly humorous.

Wine makers take great pride in designers their own style – when you see the design or text on labels for wine bottles, you know “that’s an X brand wine” immediately. Some even offer personalized labels for wine bottles, geared toward more avid enthusiasts.

Designing labels for wine bottles that will get consumers’ attention is just as important as the wine itself, it would seem. Just when you think a wine bottle label doesn’t exist or “that could never be” – it probably does.

Before I leave you, here’s one final fun fact. Did you know that some labels for wine bottles have braille for those who are blind and can’t read the wine bottle label?

Wine is as old as the hills it would seem – wine bottle labels not so much. The first wine bottle labels were first introduced by a French Monk Named Pierre Perignon in the 17th century. The wine bottle label was made of parchment and tied to the bottle’s neck with a piece of string – simple enough. This comes as no surprise because when we think of the French – the first thing that comes to mind is wine for the most part.

As wine became more popular, different blends were being made which needed to be labeled (for quality and origin). These were the beginnings of the more modern wine bottle labels that we see today.

As time went on, more advanced methods of wine label making became known. One man who had a major influence in the wine label process was Alois Senefelder from Czechoslovakia. Senefelder invented lithography – the process of printing from flat metal formerly stone, the surface treated so as the repel the ink except where it is required for printing.

This was an advantage over printing each label by hand as done previously. Since the wine bottle labels were produced by a machine rather than by hand, more information could be included on the label.

Wine bottle labels continued to progress in the 19th century when they gave more information then - the characteristics of the town they came from for example. At the time, champagne labels were very colorful and brought attention to themselves. Not to be outdone – wine makers decided to move away from the boring black fonts and white papers and add more interesting details to their labels e.g. coat of arms, awards, portraits, landscapes and individual wine families.

Today, wine bottle labels are extravagant in nature and are a work of art themselves. Wine bottle label makers take pride in producing their own style to give the consumer a hint of what to expect. The more sophisticated the wine label, the better quality the wine will be, right? - If one sees a cartoonish figure on the wine label the chances are good the wine won’t be of high quality.

The fancier the wine label the target consumer may be the younger crowd – while more mature wine drinkers will choose something with a simpler, more traditional wine bottle label. The wine bottles with more noticeable labels may contain a sweeter wine instead of its drier counterpart.

The wine bottle labels of today reflect more of the target demographics to attract the new generation of wine drinkers. We know from advertising that the more colorful and flamboyant the designs are, the more they’ll get our attention if we are unfamiliar with wine drinking. Wine labels may have changed over the centuries but their goal remained the same – to give quality information about the wine in a stylish way.

Keep in mind – just because the label may be a work of art, it doesn’t mean the wine will taste as good as the label looks. Creating a great wine label isn’t an exact science, which is why we see many, many different kinds that try to intrigue us into buying these wine.

If you’re looking for more information on wine bottle labels, you’ve come to the right place. We’ll be featuring various articles about the different varieties, and I hope you enjoy them.
